![]() LC, RO No Match for TrojansPosted: 01/29/2010 - by Jim FieldAtlantic took a giant step toward a Hawkeye 10 Conference wrestling title by beating both Red Oak and perennial powerhouse Lewis Central Thursday night. The Trojans disposed of Red Oak fairly easily with a 60-9 win, but it was the win over the Titans that was key. Atlantic got off to a 9-0 lead as Josh Perkins scored a pin and Andrew Poore posted a win. Lewis Central ripped off four straight wins to go up 16-9 in the meet, but Atlantic would not be denied. Kody Havens, Kody Kirchhoff and Bryce Wernimont all decisioned their opponents, Rich Nichols scored a technical fall and Matt Williamson and Jim Swanson both pinned their foes to give Atlantic all the points they needed in a 38-22 win over the Titans. Atlantic will win the regular season conference crown next week with a win over Glenwood. The Trojans are now 8-0 in the H-10 and 16-0 overall for the year. They will look to grab the Hawkeye 10 Conference tournament title at Shenandoah on Saturday.
