Slow Start Dooms Trojanns at Kuemper

Posted: 01/30/2010 - by Jim Field

Atlantic just couldn't buy a basket.  Kuemper Catholic started the game by scoring the first 34 points and coasted to a 55-29 win over Atlantic Friday night.  The Trojanns first points came on a Kari Sandage bucket with 2:23 left in the second quarter and it ignited a 10-0 run to end the half.  After the 34-0 start, Atlantic outscored the Knights the rest of the way 29-21, but the big early deficit against a strong team was too much to overcome.  Atlantic was led by Jessica Hawkins who scored 10 points and pulled down ten recounds.  The Trojanns fall to 3-13 overall and 2-12 in the Hawkeye 10.
